Making more art – Zyra

Something that I have missed in the last few years, and would like to do more of is spend time making art. To turn that goal into reality, I am taking the opportunity to make small pieces as gifts.

This portrait was drawn with HB, 2B, 4B and 6B pencil. I have found drawing babies difficult in the past as their skin is so smooth and lacks the character lines that come with age.

I am very happy with how this turned out, as was the recipient. I created this as a gift for my sister. The smiling subject is my niece Zyra.

The fun in this piece came with digging out tools that I have not used in a while, doing some study sketches, but mostly in creating something for another person to enjoy.
