Inktober week 1

6 days in the first week of October means 6 drawings for the first week of Inktober. 31 days of ink drawings based on prompts shared by people around the world.

In 2015 I did a drawing a day for an entire year. It was a challenging practice that I miss very much but have found difficult to repeat. A month seems a great way to start, and this year I actually caught on in time to join Inktober.

I’m using post-it notes and felt tip pen (Copic, Staedtler or Artline) which I think I will stick with to keep things simple.

Day 1 – Ring

Ring is the word for day 1. After stepping through the immediate thoughts I chose to go for ‘Ring a rosie‘.

Day 2 – Mindless

I chose to go for a partial self-portrait for day 2 with Mindless.

Day 3 – Bait

A slightly off-centre take on bait.

Day 4 – Freeze

I didn’t want to go for anything icy so I asked Mr Jackson and he suggested a gun pointed at a baddie.

Day 5 – Build

I’ve been fortunate to visit some of the in construction sites at work. This is a crane from our Sydney data centre.

Day 6 – Husky

Most of all, I didn’t want to draw a dog. The next thing I thought of was husky voices… so I chose husky god Nick Cave.

25 days

6 days down, 25 to go. Here are the rest of the Inktober prompts.

I will blog again next week or you can follow as I post them on Twitter: @_rebeccajackson.

If you have been drawing for Inktober I would love to see your work. Share in the comments below.
